Elements of witch house can be found in the slowed down melodies of the Lil B-featuring 'Witness', whilst the soulful and relaxed tempo of 'Levels' shows the album's more tender side. While the base level here more often than not consists of relatively conventional beats and rhythms, it is above this that the songs slip away from any norms. Things change gear on 'All Nite', where Vince Staples' fast-paced flow runs over a laid back and slightly trippy rhythm track. A$AP Rocky and Lil B feature on the smoked-filled vibes of 'Be Somebody', a song heavy with minimal trap beats and drawn out, synthesised and wordless vocals. While previous releases dealt mainly in atmospheric, chilled trip-hop, 32 Levels sees him leave that all behind and leap forward with a record of R&B-flecked pop sensibilities.Īs a remixer of tracks by Florence and The Machine, Sia and Lana Del Ray and producer for Mac Miller, The Weeknd and Danny Brown among others, it's of little surprise that many have returned previous favours here to help form an A list cast of guest vocalists.
